Use buttons below to view more information about ISOBEL .

Custom Cruiser/Racer built by Brooklin Boat Yard in Brooklin, Maine and designed by Stephens/Waring, "Isobel" has exceeded expectations. Visually "Isobel" is a unique blend of traditional and contemporary design, which is functionally complemented with outstanding performance and exceptional comfort.  Her split-level cockpit affords plenty of room to sail the boat well without interfering with the lower forward cockpit with its comfortable seating and drop leaf table.

With her cold-molded hull and composite deckhouse, "Isobel" was built to very high standards, and her abilities include outstanding racing performance and exhilarating day sailing.  She can be sailed well and handled by a small crew as demonstrated in four double-handed and numerous Spirit of Tradition races, and her versatile sail inventory offers rewarding sailing in a wide variety of conditions.  Isobel’s uniqueness has drawn considerable attention and she has been featured in numerous articles and a short video of her launching may be seen at

Layout and Design

Isobel’s accommodations are beautiful and cleanly executed in contemporary American birdseye maple joinery with English oak cabin sole and v-grooved white overhead. Isobel has reverse cycle AC, and the accommodations are particularly bright and airy and well ventilated with numerous hatches, including a crossed array of hatches aft of the mast

The owner’s cabin is forward just aft of a large sail locker, which is accessible via deck hatches. The full-width cabin features a queen size island berth, vanity and stowage and the large master head is next aft to starboard with WC, vanity with sink, and large enclosed shower stall.

Guest Cabin

Aft of the master cabin to port is a stowage locker immediately following is the guest cabin with over and under single berths followed by a second enclosed head and another single berth cabin.

Designer Comments

The design brief called for high performance and unsurpassed, stylish comfort. Through close collaboration with the clients, we brought that to life with a striking blend of stripped-back classical lines and crisp, aggressive style. Her very light weight and long waterline deliver dramatic performance off-the-wind in a breeze, while her relatively narrow beam, deep draft and generous stiffness make her a witch to windward. Her exquisite raised salon and below-decks bring comfort and luxury for a completely unparalleled sailing experience.
