HISTORY

MASHEE's next owner benefits from a trove of written press on the restoration, construction plans, Herreshoff museum history on the Buzzards Bay 30's and a large amount of video footage on her restoration.

Her rebuilding was done over a three year period under the leadership of Darling Boatworks in Charlotte, Vermont. French and Webb of Belfast, Maine built the main cabin top and rudder. D. N. Hylan Associates of Brooklin, Maine drew the construction plans.

She is double planked with 9/16 Douglas fir over 9/16 Cypress planking. Bronze screws fasten planking to white oak frames and backbone. DYNEL is epoxied to plywood over her cedar decks and then AWLGRIP paint applied. The toe rails and hatches are Honduran mahogony. The deck house is varnished mahogany. Her lead ballast was melted down and recast before mounting.
