Up from a winter in the Caribbean, this 27m aluminum Jongert is here for a complete exterior uplift and to enjoy some cruising in Maine. We will sodablast, prime and paint her back to her original white topsides with blue cove stripe plus attend to a variety of other scheduled maintenance issues.

She is headed south for the winter. We wish her fair breezes throughout her travels.

Layout and Design

Matakaoma (ex Twirly Bird IV and ex ex Matokaôma) is the first of the successful 2700M series. She is a fine example of combining sporting performance with the highest levels of on board comfort. The semi-enclosed deckhouse with an alternative steering position and a generous open air cockpit amidships invite relaxation. For additional fresh air the deckhouse windows may be partly opened, at the push of a button.

There is easy access from the deckhouse to the spacious main saloon, where a dining area, comfortable sofas and an audio visual center provide ample space for socializing.Forward of this is the separate crew area with a professionally equipped galley, crew’s dinette and two crew cabins.

A few steps aft lead down to two attractive guest cabins each with twin berths and their own separate bathrooms and the tastefully furnished owner’s suite. This has a double bed, comfortable seating, a study area and a generously-sized bathroom. Heating and air conditioning can be controlled individually in all cabins. The entire interior is comfortable modern, the beautifully crafted teak woodwork giving the yacht a very warm atmosphere.

“Matakaoma” has a twin steering position in the stern with unobstructed access to the center cockpit and the deck saloon and the best possible view over the deck. Her 400 square meters of sail are handled easily by even a small crew with the help of hydraulic winches and furling systems, operable from both steering positions. Safe stowage for the tender is integrated into the foredeck and can be used as a pool for sunbathing, while an hydraulically operated hatch in the stern gives access to a large garage.

Also hydraulically operated is a gangway extending from the stern, affording safe and easy passage to and from the shore. Built into the hull to starboard is a passarelle, which gives safe access to the tender and can be used as a bathing ladder or gangway when berthed side-to.

Exceptional sailing performance and the highest levels of design, technology and safety make “Matakoma” pure sailing pleasure.
